From Charlieintel.com:
Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling was interviewed by the Official UK Xbox Magazine in this months newest issue and was talking about what they are doing currently for the MW3 Content Season.
“The goal with these content drops is to do things we’ve never done before, really expand our horizons and our opportunities of what we consider DLC, because traditionally we’ve just done multiplayer maps,” Bowling commented in an interview you’ll read in issue 83, on shelves very shortly. He continued, “So that’s what we are looking at, how we can take different perspectives on different [campaign] missions, give more context to a mission by showing you pretext before it or after it. We’re exploring everything. I can’t give you a specific schedule on it, but that’s the logic behind it.”
Robert also commented on how MW3 maps were smaller and stated, “Since people have been enjoying putting hundreds of hours into the smaller maps, now as we’re moving forward we are looking towards expanding that out, giving you bigger, more sniper-friendly maps with longer sightlines, so that’s what the content drops are going to be focused on – doing something you’re not already doing in Modern Warfare 3.”
In regards to the original map offerings he said, “I think it has been successful in focusing what we wanted – very intense, fast-paced firefights, always keeping you in the fight – but we are looking to expand it, because you always want variety, you always want something different to what you’ve been experiencing.”

Call of Duty ELITE “up and running” by December 1 -UPDATE
From charlieintel.com:
-UPDATE: Daniel Suarez just confirmed with G4, that ELITE’s new target launch date is by December 1st. “They kind of have to bear with us while we bring this all back up,” the VP of production said, “but for us it’s literally ‘give us those couple weeks, we’re giving those to you for free’ and come December 1, the goal is that we’ll have everything up and running.’”
-PREVIOUSLY:
Beachhhead Studios has finally shed some light on the reasons for ELITE’s troubled launch and what’s currently being done to fix it. In the interview, several questions are answered that you won’t find in the official Elite F.A.Q.
“It’s going to take at least a couple of weeks to get Elite operational to the standards we want, we are making progress.”
In a exclusive interview to Kotaku, Daniel Suarez, vice president of production at Actvision, explains how one of the most experienced online gaming companies in the world was “blindsided by the demands for their new stat-tracking”, community-building Call of Duty service Elite.
“We had all sorts of issues: A broken registration system; poor scalability of the service; poor experience trying to login to the web or console and confusion in terms of getting 2XP or your Founders Entitlements,” he said. “A lot of this was just core infrastructure issues – mainly tied to specific databases serving up data for the console, web and ultimately mobile (when that’s released).
“For lack of a better term – our databases got hammered with the millions of people trying to use Elite and it couldn’t put up with the demand.”
In regards to why the Elite BETA didn’t prepare them, he said “Due to the fact that we didn’t have a console app on Black Ops, there wasn’t a clear picture of user behavior coming from the console,” Suarez said. “The beta helped us refine the web experience from a feature set, but really didn’t give us all the metrics at scale we needed, specifically the additional load from the console….which was a lot higher than our expectations. This was key contributor to the performance and stability issues consumers have experienced.”
Premium members able to login faster, “We’ve prioritized premium subscribers into the service via a prioritization queue, so if you are a paid member you get into the console or web automatically,” he said. “Free users, due to demand, are put into a queue and allowed in when we have bandwidth or capacity.”
On Tuesday Activision was finally able to turn clan creation on. Within 12 hours they had 22,000 clans created…

Update on the Call of Duty: ELITE service
It looks like Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer did their jobs well and put out a great product in MW3 but I would fire Beach head for this debacle with Call of Duty Elite..One word: FAIL
From charlieintel.com:
Beachhead Studios released a F.A.Q. earlier today to give an update on the Call of Duty: ELITE service. Appears service is partially up however you still may encounter problems logging into the service.
SUMMARY:
-The amount of players online is even higher than what it was this time last year for Black Ops.
-Issues have no impact on the performance of the game.
-Immediately deploying multiple additional servers to beef up the system.
-Temporarily limit access to Elite services on both the console applications and website while we build additional capacity and scale.
-Gameplay data for your entire careers in both Black Ops and MW3 is safely stored, and it will all be available to you once these issues are resolved.
-They’re immediately and automatically extending your membership to Call of Duty Elite by 30 days at no additional cost.
-Going to extend Founder eligibility until the end of the month, and you will also receive the additional 30 days of access.
The Call of Duty Elite team will keep you updated at callofduty.com/elitestatus.
