MW3: New Multiplayer Playlist Coming today--->Dec. 16th

From charlieintel.com:

Robert Bowling has just announced that tomorrow, December 16th, they’re updating the playlists on Modern Warfare 3 to introduce some new game modes as well as change up some existing ones.
Accourding to FourZeroTwo, the biggest change you’lll notice is the addition of Community Playlists. They’ll be adding popular private match modes to the public playlists, so you can start ranking up on them! The first playlist changes for Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer are listed below:

DROP ZONE
Get to the drop zone to earn points, the first team to 7500 points wins the round, but thats not all. As long as the Drop Zone is occupied, a care package will drop every 15 seconds, which ever team has the most members in the drop zone at that point “owns” the care package, but anyone can steal it. This is the only way to earn air support in this mode, all other pointstreaks are disabled. You’ll earn 20 points per team member, for every second they’re in the drop zone plus 20 XP individually for your time spent in the zone. Kills are worth 50 XP in this mode.
Custom Settings: Javelin and Pointstreaks (besides those obtained through in-game care packages) are disabled.
Hardcore HQ Ricochet
We’ll be adding Hardcore Headquarters to the Hardcore Team Tactical playlist.
Hardcore Ricochet
We’ll be converting all Hardcore modes to Ricochet variant as a response to team killing. This means, any friendly fire, is applied to the attacker, rather than the victim. So choose your shots wisely and any attempt to team kill will simply kill yourself.

-UPDATE: FourZeroTwo just tweeted “players will also notice a title update tomorrow morning when they connect. This will address Host Disadvantage – Lag Compensation.”

MW3: User-Created Modes To Be Added To Multiplayer Public Playlists

From charlieintel.com:

During the acceptance speech for X-Play’s award ceromony, Robert Bowling revealed that player-created game modes will soon be added to MW3′s multiplayer.
“Since we have such advanced private match options, we’ve been noticing a lot of user-created game modes, that in the coming weeks, we’re going to be adding to the public playlists in multiplayer,” Bowling said. “We’re going to be adding some in for the holiday, brand new modes that the users created, that we adapted, made more polished, and are putting into the game.”

US Pre-Order Numbers for Modern Warfare 3 VS. Battlefield 3

From Charlieintel:

With less than a week to go for Battlefield 3 and less than 3 weeks for Modern Warfare 3, we thought it would be a good time to compare near final pre-order numbers for one of the biggest FPS wars of the century.
Modern Warfare 3
-Xbox 360: 1,719,144
-PS3: 672,562
-Total: 2,391,706
Battlefield 3
-Xbox 360: 1,072,593
-PS3: 448,616
-Total: 1,521,209
No one really expected Battlefield 3 to outsell Modern Warfare 3 (even according to EA), yet there’s no question that BF3 has created more hype and obtained 6x the amount of pre-orders as its predecessor Bad Company 2. However even with a 5 month head start, Modern Warfare 3 has managed to capture 1,170,497 more pre-orders than BF3… FTW
*Interestingly enough, Battlefield 3 has been marketed as a “PC Lead” title, however BF3 console pre-orders are beating PC pre-orders (146,809) at a rate of 10 to 1.

**Also, Playstation 3 has access to BF3 DLC one week early, yet Xbox 360 pre-orders are beating PS3 at a rate of 2 to 1.

Call of Duty Elite Beta for PS3-Not for PC

When the original Call of Duty Elite beta started back in July, little did we know this would be yet another Xbox 360 exclusive. Just like the DLC, where Xbox 360 users get access to DLC a month early, Xbox 360 users had access to the Elite beta for over 2 months now.
Shortly after the launch it became clear in the Elite FAQ that the Elite beta would be tested first for Xbox 360 users. Yesterday, September 19th, PS3 users finally received the green light and Activision announced that the first wave of PS3 Elite beta invitations have gone out. Just like the Xbox 360 users, more and more PS3 users will be invited as time goes on.
While it may be bad for PS3 users, PC users got it even worse. According to Dan Amrich PC users won’t get invited to the Elite beta as the service is being customized for PC.
@ No beta for PC, that's been established here bit.ly/codelitebeta Elite is being customized for PC, no ETA, don't count on launch

MW3 – ACR Most Popular Gun, Big Role for Tagging/Spotting, Assassin not like Ghost

From MP1st:

More Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer details have emerged.
ACR the new Famas?
In a recent NowGamer interview, Infinity Ward’s Creative Strategist Robert Bowling, aka FourZeroTwo, revealed that the ACR was the most used gun in the assault category throughout Call of Duty XP in response to the concern of how the Famas was the most dominant gun in Black Ops. It’s worth noting that the ACR, for its lack of recoil, was also one of the most popular guns in Modern Warfare 2.
Click here to view the complete list of primary guns in Modern Warfare 3, and let us know which gun you are going to run first.
Assassin and its Match
When Robert was asked on twitter whether the Assassin perk would be as overpowered as Ghost in Black Ops, he replied “Assassin isn’t this all powerful stealth perk, Recon Drone can still see / tag you and you can be tagged by Recon.” While we now can sigh in relief that Assassin won’t be similar to how Ghost was, Robert’s answer raises more questions: how prominent will “tagging” be? Will it work as it does in the Battlefield series by pressing “back/select”? What we know so far is that tagging through a sniper rifle won’t place Doritos (DICE’s words not mine) over the enemies heads like in Battlefield. However, unlike Battlefield, the “Recon Drone” uses a regular camera instead of a thermal one. Robert Bowling uses tagging as a counter measure to the Assassin perk, then the new game mechanic, tagging, must play a big role in MW3.

Online splitscreeners are back
You know how in Black Ops when splitscreeners, for the most part, hindered your team’s performance or were easy kills. Well, Bowling confirms the return of splitscreen multiplayer. All I have to say, please create separate playlist dedicated to splitscreeners.

Please be sure to check out the blog MP1st.

BF 3's Single player Campaign Longer than MW3 but Does it Matter?

Just in from GameZone.com and MW3 Daily:

It’s already known that Battlefield 3’s campaign is longer than Modern Warfare 2’s single player campaign.  But how does Modern Warfare 3 stack up against its predecessor?
According to Glen Schofield, one of the founders of Modern Warfare 3 co-developer Sledgehammer Games, the single player campaign for Modern Warfare 3 feels longer than the campaign for Modern Warfare 2.  That doesn’t mean it necessarily IS longer.  Schofield clarified that “the exact length depends on the player.”  Seeing as how Modern Warfare 2 was criticized for it’s short single player length, I’m not sure that’s a good way of answering the question.
What does that mean it feels longer?  Does that mean the story drags on? Schofield added that one of the goals with Modern Warfare 3 was for players to come away praising the story as well as the spectacle.  Personally, I’m all about the multiplayer, but I will admit Modern Warfare 2’s story was very intriguing.  I don’t care if Modern Warfare 3’s campaign is longer or shorter, just as long as its as entertaining and memorable.
Schofield also shared one of his favorite parts of the single player campaign, a moment in Berlin where a building is collapsing around the player in real time, and then the player has to enter the downed structure while it’s still creaking and groaning.  That does sound pretty intense.

, Check him out!

MW3 Developers Say Game is Going to be Easier to Update than Previous Call of Duty Titles

From SFX-360:

Infinity Ward (the developer of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3)  announced that there would be an easier way to update the multiplayer sections of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 unlike previous releases.
Infinity Ward’s  Robert Bowling said, “ How we’ve built this current game as opposed to in the past is we’ve made it a lot easier on the backend to update the other aspects of the game beyond just the map packs. So now, as we’re advancing content and releasing new maps on multiplayer, we can also further tweak them to also be playable in spec Ops. We also looked at how to update the game further in other ways like new modes, weapon – whatever we want to do. So we’ve done a lot of work in the backend that allows us to update more easily and quickly. It would be in such a way that’s helpful for DLC but also helpful for post-launch support: listening to feedback. Maybe there’s stuff we want to rebalance. Maybe there’s stuff we want to patch. We have a lot more control in tweaking the game now, outside of a patch, than we ever did before.”

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will have LAN support, improved theatre mode, no zombies | PC Gamer

Infinity Ward creative strategist, Robert Bowling has been answering questions on Twitter in the aftermath of the Call of Duty XP event that happened over the course of the weekend. Dedicated Servers for Modern Warfare 3 have already been confirmed, but Bowling also mentions that LAN play will be possible, which certainly wasn’t a given, considering how Modern Warfare 3 will tie in heavily with Activision’s online Call of Duty Elite service.
“Yes, #MW3 has LAN,” Bowling tweets, “along with detailed class restriction control + default class creation option.”
The class restriction control will give LAN gamers the ability to “restrict any weapon, equipment, perk, deathstreak, secondary, attachment, ANYTHING from being used when setting up game,” Bowling adds.

In response to Twitter questions asking about PC specific support, Bowling says that he’s been “working on that goal for a long time. Dedicated Servers, Public Server Files, & giving control back to the player. #MW3 PC”
He also drops a few more facts. Modern Warfare 3 will get its own updated version of the theatre mode that made its debut in Call of Duty: Black Ops. That’ll let players cut their own movies and upload them to Call of Duty Elite. At Call of Duty XP, Infinity Ward revealed that Call of Duty Elite subscribers would get more online storage space for their films.
Finally, as expected, there won’t be any zombies in Modern Warfare 3. The popular zombies mode has been a feature of Treyarch’s entries in the Call of Duty series. “although we do have a very different style of co-op in our new infinite wave based Spec Ops Survival mode,” tweets Bowling. You can see footage of the Spec Ops mode in action in the recent Spec Ops trailer.

MW3′s New PRESTIGE SHOP & ALL MENU Screenshots

From Charlieintel.com

Like that new SCAR-L but afraid to prestige and wait another 31 ranks? Well take it with you to the next Prestige! FourZeroTwo confirmed via twitter yesterday, “It’s a shop that unlocks after 1st prestige where you can use prestige points earned by prestiging to unlock useful features.” and added, “When you prestige you unlock a shop that let’s you choose what you unlock (like taking one piece of gear over to next prestige).” There's still a lot of questions as to exactly how this works but we’re already liking what we’re seeing. One of the main reason I never prestiged in Black Ops was because I didnt want to wait 44 ranks to get the Commando back..

We were able to grab a hi-res screenshot of the “Prestige Shop” durring the XP2011 press briefing. Here are some other menus captured:

Go on over to charlieintel.com and check out the rest of the intel on the menu and prestige shop. Pretty awesome.

Modern Warfare 3 Killstreaks

From Call of Duty Community who has people on the ground at XP in Los Angeles:

Just like Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2, there will be killstreaks in Modern Warfare 3. A new feature in Modern Warfare 3 is the way killstreaks are categorized. Previously there were killstreaks and deathstreaks. Modern Warfare 3 will have 3 “Strike Packages”. There will be an Assault, Support and Specialist  Strike Package. And then there are the deathstreaks.
  • Assault Strike Package – Pointstreaks within this package chain and are designed for more direct damage (Predator, helicopter, etc), just like in Modern Warfare  2. Your streak resets on death.
  • Support Strike Package – Pointstreaks within this package do not chain. However, streaks do not reset on death. Streaks are more support oriented (UAV, Counter UAV, SAM turret, etc)
  • Specialist Strike Package – Pointstreaks designed for the expert players. Rewards come in the form of additional perks. A player activates additional Perks as they progress in a Pointsreak. These perks last until death.

Assault Strike Package:

  • 3 Kills – UAV - Shows enemies on mini-map.
  • 4 Kills - Care Package - Airdrop a random killstreak or ammo.
  • 5 Kills - I.M.S - The Intelligent Munitions system detects and eliminates enemy combatants.
  • 5 Kills - Predator Missile - Remove control missile.
  • 5 Kills - Sentry Gun - Airdrop a placeable Sentry Gun.
  • 6 Kills - Precision Airstrike - Call in a directional airstrike.
  • 7 Kills - Attack Helicopter - Call in a support helicopter.
  • 7 Kills - Strafe Run- Strafing Run of 5 Attack Helicopters.
  • 9 Kills - Little Bird Guard - Get personal air support from a Little Bird guardian.
  • 9 Kills - Reaper - Lase missile targets remotely from the Reaper UAV.
  • 10 Kills - Assault Drone - Airdrop an Assault Drone. (Mini tank robot with a “Sentry Gun” attached to it)
  • 12 Kills - AC-130 - Be the gunner of an AC-130 Gunship.
  • 12 Kills - Pave Low - Calls in a heavily armored assault helicopter (Sikorsky MH-53 Pave Low).
  • 15 Kills - Juggernaut - Receive advanced armor via Care Package.

Support Strike Package:

It also stops the enemy from calling in killstreaks, and at the same time drops down any helicopters and aircrafts that are in the air. Call of Duty Elite: Features, Pricing and Talent

From Machinima Inside Gaming:

In the opening keynote ceremony for Call of Duty XP, held in Los Angeles, Activison CEO of publishing Eric Hirschberg confirmed the price point of Elite: $49.99 for the year. If, however, you decide to spring for the Modern Warfare 3 Hardened Edition this year, you’ll get a free Elite membership (and, if you were lucky enough to attend XP, then you already know you’re getting a free copy of the Hardened Edition just for showing up. Lucky you.). Elite also gives paid members access to eight times the video storage space for replays, as well as all the DLC over the course of the year for free. A nice package. It should also be noted that Hirschberg confirmed that DLC for MW3 will be monthly, with new Spec Ops, zombie, and multiplayer maps coming at regular intervals.

Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer Mode Pics and Video Leaked Before Call Of Duty XP

Hat tip and good work to SFX-360 for posting this:

A video posted to YouTube (no longer available) by someone who allegedly broke into the upcoming Call of Duty XP event in Los Angeles shows a new game type, maps and information about the eagerly anticipated Modern Warfare 3 game. The 25 second video shows the person navigating the multiplayer menu for the game. The YouTube user that posted the video gained access to the Xbox 360 systems they’re using for the tournament.
The video showed a list of 13 multiplayer maps for the game. The names of the maps are Carbon, Coast, Dome, Exchange, Hardhat, Interchange, Lambeth, Meteora, Mogadishu, Paris, Plaza, Radar and Seatown. It’s possible a few more maps could appear in the retail release. Call of Duty: Black Ops, the last game in the series had 14 maps while Modern Warfare 2 had 16.

The video no longer works and was removed from Youtube by Activision.
