The weapons resemble a hybrid collection of guns from Treyarch’s Black Ops and Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2.

Ridley Scott Working on Call of Duty Elite and an IGN Analysis of the MW3 Spec Ops trailer
Full story here at Moderwarfare24/7:
Ridley Scott is working on COD Elite content and IGN have released a 20 minute long MW3 trailer analysis.
As reported by USA Today », British film-maker Ridley Scott is working with Activision to create content for Call of Duty Elite. Scott has directed various well known films like Alien, Gladiator, Hannibal and most recently 2010's Robin Hood. He also directed Black Hawk Down, a modern-day war film that has inspired Call of Duty in the past, most notably Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
This announcement for the upcoming online service for Call of Duty was made by Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg as part of his presentation at the 13th Annual Pacific Crest Global Technology Leadership Forum in Vali, Colo.
Elite is currently in beta with waves of invites heading out to email boxes every day. If you're not in the beta yet then stay patient and keep checking your emails, but be sure to join our 'DW247' group when you do get in!

More Details on Modern Warfare 3 (Updated)
From Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's Blog:
Activision did not release details of Modern Warfare 3's competitive multiplayer mode yet, keeping that reveal for the Call of Duty XP event on Labor Day weekend. The mode and its maps will probably be the favorite component of Modern Warfare 3, because of the dominating overall performance of previous Modern Warfare and Call of Duty games. Although the maps have not been revealed, it is likely that the multiplayer won't be drastically diverse from that of recent franchise installments, pitting gamers versus each other in first person shooter competition, using a combination of weapon upgrades and gameplay perks.
"How you play team deathmatch is all about your sightlines, your viewpoints-like I said, the hotspots," Bowling added. "I'm coming around the corner. I don't want to have to worry about being shot from 50 different angles. I want to be able to know, 'OK, I cleared the top floor, I cleared the second floor, I cleared the base, I'm good in this area. OK, now I'm coming through this doorway, I have to watch this doorway, this alleyway and this spot.' And then, when you're playing objective [matches], you need to be able to know the routes and break them down in your head as you play the areas. Like Search and Destroy… I know I've cleared this area. There's no way this guy can get there. And then going in an adding the fun secret stuff that people find three months into playing, like 'Did you know if you run up the tail of the plane in Afghan you can leap to the top of the mountain instead of circling around to the route that everyone is covering?'"

Call of Duty Elite: Theater Mode
I just posted an article earlier that contained 15 leaked images of the Call of Duty Elite Beta and I have to say one of the images in particular caught my eye; the theater mode (video editor) image. Source: modernwarfare247.
This looks to be a major upgrade over the current Black Ops theater system. In fact, this looks like a complete in house video editing system. While it might not be Sony Vegas, it sure looks like plenty of options will be available: adding music, sound effects, transitions, "bubbles" (annotations???).
Whatever it is, it looks pretty awesome. The question is; Will this be free or part of the paid subscription?
I also want to know if this editor will render and allow a direct upload to a Youtube channel (your own channel)? If it does it looks like it will handle movies up to 6 minutes in length, much better than Treyarch's current 30 second clip size.
What do you guys think? Next article will be an opinion piece on the emblems and prize system for Call of Duty Elite. Look for it soon!

Battlefield 3's Battlelog Revealed In Images from G4TV
From G4TV:
Battlefield 3 is getting its own stat-tracking social network, an apparent spinoff of Autolog called Battlelog, just like Call of Duty will have with its Elite service. Electronic Arts and DICE already confirmed the presence of features like friend lists, clan-like platoons, chat, stat-tracking and other features. Now the first images are online, thanks to an accidental early posting of Battleblog #3 on the game's German site, rescued by Battlefieldo before they could be removed.

Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer Will Look and Feel More Like COD 4, Less Verticality and Killstreak Reliance
It looks like MW3 is going to have a lot less camping opportunities. Unlike MW2, it's predecessor, MW3 is only going to feature 4-5 hot spots per map. It looks like Sledgehammer is going to make it look more like COD 4, more gun on gun, you're done. So don't look for stackable kill streaks, marshmallows, or tents in the upcoming Call of Duty installment. I am liking what I am hearing and can't wait to get my hands on the game. BTW--COD Elite Beta starts today. Look in your email box for an invite! Thanks to Kotaku for breaking the story, here is a preview and a link to the article on MW3 on Kataku's website:
Stephen Totilo —
The makers of Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer mode are creating maps that include no more than five hotspots—places from which enemy players may be hiding or shooting—for a gamer to worry about at any one time.
"It simplifies it so that the less skilled player has less to think about," Robert Bowling, creative strategist at Modern Warfare development studio Infinity Ward told me yesterday. "What happens when you have more is that the professional guys are using that spot that is either difficult to get to. … There's fewer places to hide, which discourages the more camper mentality that seemed to emerge in the map design of Modern Warfare 2."

Is DICE "Photoshopping" Battlefield 3 Game footage?
Is it real or is it Memorex? That's a slogan from a long time ago used by Memorex to sell cassette tapes. Is DICE wanting us to ask the same of battlefield 3 Footage. The folks over at The Game Headz think so:
"Featuring one of the longest lines at E3 2011 was EA’s hit shooter, Battlefield 3. The game looks like it can make the Battlefield run green with money come this holiday seasons. While at E3, something seemed odd about EA’s media presentation of Battlefield 3. After seating us in a small room, Dice made our dog tags, and we were greeted by a screen shot presentation while one of the developers explained what they have shown so far. The odd thing is that they never showed the videos of the gameplay they were talking about. In fact, no gameplay videos were shown during the presentation. Throughout the entire event, Dice only showed screen shots in an almost power point like presentation."
Botchweed also has a story up on this.
What do you think? Is this the same as when Sony tricked everyone with pre-rendered Killzone 2 gameplay footage? How concerned are you about a let down in graphics?

New Call of Duty:Black Ops Map Pack on 06-28-2011 for XBOX
From what the comments look like on You Tube maybe Treyarch & Activision should pick a new song. "Gimme Shelter" by the Rolling Stones is a classic song but they could change it up a little. Right?
