Modern Warfare 3 Patch 1.08 Going Live on PS3 Very Soon

From Call of Duty Community:

The patch that went live for Xbox 360 users on January 24th, will be going on live for PS3 users at “2AM” (somebody needs to tell Mr. Bowling about time zones). The delay was caused by exclusive updates for PS3 users. Robert Bowling announced:
The latest #MW3 title update for @Playstation goes live at 2AM. Includes improved voice chat quality, theater fixes, weapon rebalances.
When Robert refers to the “weapon rebalances”,  he means the Striker nerf and the buff for all the other shotguns and the 50% fire rate reduction for all Akimbo weapons.

Robert Bowling (Infinity Ward creative strategist) has just revealed in a all new Call of Duty Elite video that Modern Warfare 3 will be getting more types of DLC than previous series entries, and confirmed that IW, Sledgehammer and Raven are all working on updates for the game. “The way we’re doing downloadable content this year is unlike we’ve never done before,” he said. “Not only in how you can get it – in content drops or choose for the collection – but also the type of content you’re getting. We’re doing more than just maps. We’re going to do Spec Ops missions and a variety of things that players have never seen before.
“That’s the great thing about having three developers that are contributing to the season of content. You have Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer and Raven all pitching in. The full season of content for Modern Warfare 3 kicks off for Elite subscribers on January 24 on Xbox Live.”
In regards to when it might come out for PS3 and PC, an Activision spokesperson said “Today we informed the Call of Duty Elite Premium community that the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Elite Content Season will officially kick off on January 24 for Xbox users. We’ll have more details about the entire 2012 MW3 Content Season in early January, so stay tuned for updates.

Xbox 360 Dashboard Update Goes Live On December 6

The headline pretty much says it all: Microsoft has confirmed that the latest update to the Xbox 360 dashboard, announced at E3 earlier this year, will go live on December 6, TeamXbox reports. The dash is currently being tested in a beta, which some of you may be a part of.
The updated dash features a user interface designed to resemble the "Metro" layout used in Windows Phone 7 and the upcoming Windows 8. You can also expect to see Kinect functionality more deeply integrated into the core interface and new features like voice-activated Bing Search.

Call of Duty ELITE “up and running” by December 1 -UPDATE

From charlieintel.com:

-UPDATE: Daniel Suarez just confirmed with G4, that ELITE’s new target launch date is by December 1st. “They kind of have to bear with us while we bring this all back up,” the VP of production said, “but for us it’s literally ‘give us those couple weeks, we’re giving those to you for free’ and come December 1, the goal is that we’ll have everything up and running.’”

-PREVIOUSLY:
Beachhhead Studios has finally shed some light on the reasons for ELITE’s troubled launch and what’s currently being done to fix it. In the interview, several questions are answered that you won’t find in the official Elite F.A.Q.
“It’s going to take at least a couple of weeks to get Elite operational to the standards we want, we are making progress.”
In a exclusive interview to Kotaku, Daniel Suarez, vice president of production at Actvision, explains how one of the most experienced online gaming companies in the world was “blindsided by the demands for their new stat-tracking”, community-building Call of Duty service Elite.
“We had all sorts of issues: A broken registration system; poor scalability of the service; poor experience trying to login to the web or console and confusion in terms of getting 2XP or your Founders Entitlements,” he said. “A lot of this was just core infrastructure issues – mainly tied to specific databases serving up data for the console, web and ultimately mobile (when that’s released).
“For lack of a better term – our databases got hammered with the millions of people trying to use Elite and it couldn’t put up with the demand.”
In regards to why the Elite BETA didn’t prepare them, he said “Due to the fact that we didn’t have a console app on Black Ops, there wasn’t a clear picture of user behavior coming from the console,” Suarez said. “The beta helped us refine the web experience from a feature set, but really didn’t give us all the metrics at scale we needed, specifically the additional load from the console….which was a lot higher than our expectations. This was key contributor to the performance and stability issues consumers have experienced.”
Premium members able to login faster, “We’ve prioritized premium subscribers into the service via a prioritization queue, so if you are a paid member you get into the console or web automatically,” he said. “Free users, due to demand, are put into a queue and allowed in when we have bandwidth or capacity.”
On Tuesday Activision was finally able to turn clan creation on. Within 12 hours they had 22,000 clans created…

Modern Warfare 3 is a joke!

From COD Community and special thanks to them for posting this:

When a game / franchise / developer publisher and so on doesn't have any haters, you know something is wrong. When you do have haters, you just laugh at them and applaud them for the effort they put into the hating.

The same can be said about this video by bideovlogger. The video he made is a brilliant one, but instead of bashing Modern Warfare 3, he's just spreading the word about it. I really like what he did with the video.

Full story and hat tip to sfx-360.com

Treyarch seems to be having a problem with leaks this week. In addition to the screen shots of a Treyarch employee playing an unreleased game titled Iron Wolf yesterday, we are now hearing rumors of the weapons to be in the highly anticipated release of Infinity Ward’s, Modern Warfare 3. The weapons resemble a hybrid collection of guns from Treyarch’s Black Ops and Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2.

There are 17 guns in total and a small video showing some them.

List of Modern Warfare 3 Guns Revealed

Assault Rifles

SCAR-L
M14 EBR Assault Rifle
Remington ACR
AK-47
G36 Assault Rifle

Sub-Machine Guns

Skorpion
MP5

Sniper Rifles:

Barret 50. Caliber Sniper Rifle

Model 1887
Striker

My question is; Why is Treyarch leaking this? Isn't MW3 an Infinity ward, Sledgehammer, Raven production? Someone please give me an answer to this. TC

Battlefield 3 Limited Edition details revealed!

Battlefield-3-D-EA-600x250

In what has become an increasingly common trend by EA, gamers who preorder Battlefield 3 will be automatically upgraded to a “limited edition” of the game full of in-game goodies (like anyone in their right mind needed extra incentives to buy this on release day). By preordering the game at select retailers, players can expect redeemable codes for:
  • Back to Karkand expansion: four multiplayer maps from Battlefield 2 have received a facelift, including Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman, and Sharqi Peninsula.
  • Physical Warfare Pack: a set of three weapons, the Type 88 light machinegun with bipod mount; the SKS sniper rifle flash suppressor, an extra stealth measure for Recon soldiers; and flechette ammo for the DAO-12 semi-auto shotgun, which is the last thing you’d want poiting straight at your face during close encounters.
  • SPECACT Kit: eight additional multiplayer skins, one for each class.
  • Dog tag Pack: dog tags will serve as the game’s multiplayer signature, and this pack adds another five unique designs to choose from.

XBox Gamer Dies from Blood Clot in The Brain

Full story here

The family of a budding computer programmer have on Saturday launched a campaign to raise awareness about the health risks of playing online computer games after their son died following a marathon session on his Xbox.
A post-mortem revealed that 20-year-old Chris Staniforth -- who was offered a place to study Game Design at Leicester University -- was killed by a pulmonary embolism, which can occur if someone sits in the same position for several hours.

What do you think about this? Is it something gamers should be aware of?
