Bell Helicopters Sues EA Over Battlefield 3

From charlieintel.com:
What does this mean for Call of Duty? Lots, seeing as how Bell’s V-22 Ospreys and AH-1Z Vipers are featured in MW3, not to mention the ramifications if video games are not allowed to include the likeness of military equipment.
Electronic Arts and Bell Helicopter parent company Textron have been negotiating over Battlefield 3 use of three Bell helicopters, which Textron says is without permission. In the documents EA says that talks between the two have broken down, and the company expects a lawsuit.
EA has asked a federal judge to rule that EA’s use of the military equipment is protected by the First Amendment and fair usage.
This is one time we’ll be rooting for EA..

Battlefield 3 Limited Edition Details Revealed

Battlefield 3 Limited Edition details revealed!

Battlefield-3-D-EA-600x250

In what has become an increasingly common trend by EA, gamers who preorder Battlefield 3 will be automatically upgraded to a “limited edition” of the game full of in-game goodies (like anyone in their right mind needed extra incentives to buy this on release day). By preordering the game at select retailers, players can expect redeemable codes for:
  • Back to Karkand expansion: four multiplayer maps from Battlefield 2 have received a facelift, including Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman, and Sharqi Peninsula.
  • Physical Warfare Pack: a set of three weapons, the Type 88 light machinegun with bipod mount; the SKS sniper rifle flash suppressor, an extra stealth measure for Recon soldiers; and flechette ammo for the DAO-12 semi-auto shotgun, which is the last thing you’d want poiting straight at your face during close encounters.
  • SPECACT Kit: eight additional multiplayer skins, one for each class.
  • Dog tag Pack: dog tags will serve as the game’s multiplayer signature, and this pack adds another five unique designs to choose from.

Is DICE "Photoshopping" Battlefield 3 Game footage?

Is it real or is it Memorex? That's a slogan from a long time ago used by Memorex to sell cassette tapes. Is DICE wanting us to ask the same of battlefield 3 Footage. The folks over at The Game Headz think so:

"Featuring one of the longest lines at E3 2011 was EA’s hit shooter, Battlefield 3. The game looks like it can make the Battlefield run green with money come this holiday seasons. While at E3, something seemed odd about EA’s media presentation of Battlefield 3. After seating us in a small room, Dice made our dog tags, and we were greeted by a screen shot presentation while one of the developers explained what they have shown so far. The odd thing is that they never showed the videos of the gameplay they were talking about. In fact, no gameplay videos were shown during the presentation. Throughout the entire event, Dice only showed screen shots in an almost power point like presentation."

Botchweed also has a story up on this.

What do you think? Is this the same as when Sony tricked everyone with pre-rendered Killzone 2 gameplay footage? How concerned are you about a let down in graphics?

Battlefield 3's "Dice" engine to finally show off PS3's true capability??

Executive producer Patrick Bach says PS3 version will be very close to PC 60 FPS. Do you believe him? I have been waiting for the PS3 to be fully utilized by a Game developer and maybe the time has come. The PS3 hardware really does outperform the XBOX as far as capability and processing but it has never been challenged so far by any developer. I look forward to BF3..what about you? Do you think the PS3 will finally get to show off it's capability?--Tango Down (TC)

The Winner at E3 2011, Best of Show is...Bioshock Infinite

Bioshock Infinite wins big time and amazingly, MW3 wins nothing. It looks like Battlefield 3 won Best Online Multiplayer and Best Action Game. This might wake the guys and girls up over at Activision because EA just pwned them.

From G4TV:
The Game Critics Awards are in for E3 2011, and BioShock Infinite has won "Best of Show," as well as winning more awards than any other game. Infinite took home four awards, twice as many as any other game. Battlefield 3, Sound Shapes, and Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim each won a pair of awards.

Infintiy Ward's Robert Bowling says buy both MW3 and BF3

Different games and both are going to make serious bank this Fall, 2011.

From the Examiner.com website:
Bowling is showing great respect for the development team at Dice and Battlefield 3. With each title competing against each other this fall for the FPS genre crown, things will get interesting, but each title will be catering to their own type of audience. Battlefield 3 has been described as a ‘documentary’ by Kojima; meanwhile Call of Duty is an ‘action movie’.

A Bodycount Review-Codemasters

Ok, I just realized that Stuart Black created the hit PS2 FPS, Black. I have to admit, this is where my FPS fascination began. Black was a damn good shooter. I loved that fracking game. So it intriqued me to find out that Bodycount had Stuart black's input and TLC, at least for a time. Turns out Black has left Codemasters. I reviewed the trailer for Bodycount and it looks good. I think I might want to try this game out. Look for it in August. I will be posting more updates on the game as the launch date gets closer.

This fall looks to be orgasmic for FPS fanatics; MW3, Battlefield 3, and Bodycount. I might want to buy all 3, where do I find the time to play them all?
