Battlefield 3 Leaked Apha Screenshots

Source bf3blog.com:

From the bf3blog.com:

EA and DICE are currently running alpha/beta testing on the new Battlelog service, where a number of third party testers have been given access to the alpha version of Battlefiled 3 in order to test Battlelog. One of the testers sent us these screenshots of Battlefield 3, which is in alpha mode. The map is the same as we’ve seen at E3: Operation Metro. While the screenshots don’t reveal anything we haven’t seen yet, we do, for the first time, get a good glimpse of the Battlefield 3 HUD. There’s also an extra screenshot of Battlelog, showing a server browser.

So far the game is looking outstanding!

Is DICE "Photoshopping" Battlefield 3 Game footage?

Is it real or is it Memorex? That's a slogan from a long time ago used by Memorex to sell cassette tapes. Is DICE wanting us to ask the same of battlefield 3 Footage. The folks over at The Game Headz think so:

"Featuring one of the longest lines at E3 2011 was EA’s hit shooter, Battlefield 3. The game looks like it can make the Battlefield run green with money come this holiday seasons. While at E3, something seemed odd about EA’s media presentation of Battlefield 3. After seating us in a small room, Dice made our dog tags, and we were greeted by a screen shot presentation while one of the developers explained what they have shown so far. The odd thing is that they never showed the videos of the gameplay they were talking about. In fact, no gameplay videos were shown during the presentation. Throughout the entire event, Dice only showed screen shots in an almost power point like presentation."

Botchweed also has a story up on this.

What do you think? Is this the same as when Sony tricked everyone with pre-rendered Killzone 2 gameplay footage? How concerned are you about a let down in graphics?

Battlefield 3-Two New Features Revealed: Bipods and Suppressive Fire

The latest update from the Battleblog:

"As mentioned, the four classes available in Battlefield 3 are Assault, Engineer, Support and Recon. All classes include familiar elements, but this time around, we’re tweaking things a bit, bringing something new to our online multiplayer. Our Assault class is still the frontline run and gun class, and considering the havoc and fallen team members someone will see while on the frontlines, the Assault soldier now has medic abilities. That’s right, all the abilities such as medkits and defibrillators typically found on the Medic class are now incorporated into Assault. It makes sense that the class on the frontline will be able to revive fallen team mates, right? Right! Remember, you can play it your way, so if you want to customize your Assault soldier more towards medic abilities or towards serious gunplay, it’s totally up to you."

Battlefield 3 introduces "Infantry Only" Combat Modes

From the Battleblog, Lars Gustavsson discusses bringing back TDM and Infantry only game modes:

"We are bringing Team Deathmatch back to the multiplayer menu! It's been absent since Battlefield 1942, and to quote Lars Gustavsson, “It would almost be a criminal offense not to offer TDM to our fans, especially with the tactical destruction and realistic soldier movement  that Frostbite 2 brings to the game”. Our efforts to let you play Battlefield 3 your way also means that you will have the option to play infantry only matches, for that up close and personal touch."

I believe this game is going to be epic in every way. What do you think about infantry only and TDM being back in the game?

Battlefield 3: We are doing things no one else is capable of

Team Deathmatch will be in BF3. Look for this game to be, put simply, awe-inspiring!
This game is visually mesmerizing...

Here is an excerpt from the interview with Lars Gustavsson of EA:

"The new engine is responsible for the return of the mode. Lars says it was a no-brainer once they’d realised the multiplayer potential: “It would almost be a criminal offense not to offer TDM to our fans, especially with the tactical destruction and realistic soldier movement that Frostbite 2 brings to the game. Our efforts to let you play Battlefield 3 your way also means that you will have the option to play infantry only matches, for that up close and personal touch.”

Battlefield 3's "Dice" engine to finally show off PS3's true capability??

Executive producer Patrick Bach says PS3 version will be very close to PC 60 FPS. Do you believe him? I have been waiting for the PS3 to be fully utilized by a Game developer and maybe the time has come. The PS3 hardware really does outperform the XBOX as far as capability and processing but it has never been challenged so far by any developer. I look forward to BF3..what about you? Do you think the PS3 will finally get to show off it's capability?--Tango Down (TC)

The Winner at E3 2011, Best of Show is...Bioshock Infinite

Bioshock Infinite wins big time and amazingly, MW3 wins nothing. It looks like Battlefield 3 won Best Online Multiplayer and Best Action Game. This might wake the guys and girls up over at Activision because EA just pwned them.

From G4TV:
The Game Critics Awards are in for E3 2011, and BioShock Infinite has won "Best of Show," as well as winning more awards than any other game. Infinite took home four awards, twice as many as any other game. Battlefield 3, Sound Shapes, and Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim each won a pair of awards.

LulzSec hacking group quits--but not before hitting EA

The letter from LulzSec after hacking EA's Battlefield Heroes:
Friends around the globe,

We are Lulz Security, and this is our final release, as today marks something meaningful to us. 50 days ago, we set sail with our humble ship on an uneasy and brutal ocean: the Internet. The hate machine, the love machine, the machine powered by many machines. We are all part of it, helping it grow, and helping it grow on us.

For the past 50 days we've been disrupting and exposing corporations, governments, often the general population itself, and quite possibly everything in between, just because we could. All to selflessly entertain others - vanity, fame, recognition, all of these things are shadowed by our desire for that which we all love. The raw, uninterrupted, chaotic thrill of entertainment and anarchy. It's what we all crave, even the seemingly lifeless politicians and emotionless, middle-aged self-titled failures. You are not failures. You have not blown away. You can get what you want and you are worth having it, believe in yourself.

While we are responsible for everything that The Lulz Boat is, we are not tied to this identity permanently. Behind this jolly visage of rainbows and top hats, we are people. People with a preference for music, a preference for food; we have varying taste in clothes and television, we are just like you. Even Hitler and Osama Bin Laden had these unique variations and style, and isn't that interesting to know? The mediocre painter turned supervillain liked cats more than we did.

Again, behind the mask, behind the insanity and mayhem, we truly believe in the AntiSec movement. We believe in it so strongly that we brought it back, much to the dismay of those looking for more anarchic lulz. We hope, wish, even beg, that the movement manifests itself into a revolution that can continue on without us. The support we've gathered for it in such a short space of time is truly overwhelming, and not to mention humbling. Please don't stop. Together, united, we can stomp down our common oppressors and imbue ourselves with the power and freedom we deserve.

So with those last thoughts, it's time to say bon voyage. Our planned 50 day cruise has expired, and we must now sail into the distance, leaving behind - we hope - inspiration, fear, denial, happiness, approval, disapproval, mockery, embarrassment, thoughtfulness, jealousy, hate, even love. If anything, we hope we had a microscopic impact on someone, somewhere. Anywhere.

Thank you for sailing with us. The breeze is fresh and the sun is setting, so now we head for the horizon.

Let it flow...

Lulz Security - our crew of six wishes you a happy 2011, and a shout-out to all of our battlefleet members and supporters across the globe
