MW3 Campaign and Spec Ops Help with Multiplayer Unlocks

from sfx-360.com:

Modern Warfare 3‘s Campaign and Spec Ops progression will contribute to multiplayer unlockables.
Executive producer Mark Rubin outlined the new Prestige Shop feature during the Call of Duty XP.
While other Call Of Duty games just let you unlock more character classes when you Prestige, Modern Warfare 3 will have a more “buy what you like” system and takes in account all the play modes.
“The Prestige Shop is not only for Prestiging… but it’s also complete the single player, complete the single player in Veteran, complete Spec Ops, or do something in Spec Ops,” said Rubin during a press conference.
“You can earn it all throughout the game, the currency, to buy the things in the shop. Some of the things that are in the shop are the Create a Class slots.
“One of the other things I like is early unlocks, so I can spend currency to unlock an item that would normally unlock at Level 42, I can have it at level four.”
Rubin added that “one of the beauties” of Modern Warfare 3 is that the developers can easily change content after release, such as adding new Prestige Shop unlocks, balancing weapons in-game and providing new content.

OK-I really like this. What do you guys think? It will definitely make me want to play the single player campaign and lot's of Spec Ops. It looks like they are taking some ideas from Treyarch and implementing them. Nice..--TC (Tango Down)

MW3 Developers Say Game is Going to be Easier to Update than Previous Call of Duty Titles

From SFX-360:

Infinity Ward (the developer of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3)  announced that there would be an easier way to update the multiplayer sections of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 unlike previous releases.
Infinity Ward’s  Robert Bowling said, “ How we’ve built this current game as opposed to in the past is we’ve made it a lot easier on the backend to update the other aspects of the game beyond just the map packs. So now, as we’re advancing content and releasing new maps on multiplayer, we can also further tweak them to also be playable in spec Ops. We also looked at how to update the game further in other ways like new modes, weapon – whatever we want to do. So we’ve done a lot of work in the backend that allows us to update more easily and quickly. It would be in such a way that’s helpful for DLC but also helpful for post-launch support: listening to feedback. Maybe there’s stuff we want to rebalance. Maybe there’s stuff we want to patch. We have a lot more control in tweaking the game now, outside of a patch, than we ever did before.”

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will have LAN support, improved theatre mode, no zombies | PC Gamer

Infinity Ward creative strategist, Robert Bowling has been answering questions on Twitter in the aftermath of the Call of Duty XP event that happened over the course of the weekend. Dedicated Servers for Modern Warfare 3 have already been confirmed, but Bowling also mentions that LAN play will be possible, which certainly wasn’t a given, considering how Modern Warfare 3 will tie in heavily with Activision’s online Call of Duty Elite service.
“Yes, #MW3 has LAN,” Bowling tweets, “along with detailed class restriction control + default class creation option.”
The class restriction control will give LAN gamers the ability to “restrict any weapon, equipment, perk, deathstreak, secondary, attachment, ANYTHING from being used when setting up game,” Bowling adds.

In response to Twitter questions asking about PC specific support, Bowling says that he’s been “working on that goal for a long time. Dedicated Servers, Public Server Files, & giving control back to the player. #MW3 PC”
He also drops a few more facts. Modern Warfare 3 will get its own updated version of the theatre mode that made its debut in Call of Duty: Black Ops. That’ll let players cut their own movies and upload them to Call of Duty Elite. At Call of Duty XP, Infinity Ward revealed that Call of Duty Elite subscribers would get more online storage space for their films.
Finally, as expected, there won’t be any zombies in Modern Warfare 3. The popular zombies mode has been a feature of Treyarch’s entries in the Call of Duty series. “although we do have a very different style of co-op in our new infinite wave based Spec Ops Survival mode,” tweets Bowling. You can see footage of the Spec Ops mode in action in the recent Spec Ops trailer.

MW3′s New PRESTIGE SHOP & ALL MENU Screenshots

From Charlieintel.com

Like that new SCAR-L but afraid to prestige and wait another 31 ranks? Well take it with you to the next Prestige! FourZeroTwo confirmed via twitter yesterday, “It’s a shop that unlocks after 1st prestige where you can use prestige points earned by prestiging to unlock useful features.” and added, “When you prestige you unlock a shop that let’s you choose what you unlock (like taking one piece of gear over to next prestige).” There's still a lot of questions as to exactly how this works but we’re already liking what we’re seeing. One of the main reason I never prestiged in Black Ops was because I didnt want to wait 44 ranks to get the Commando back..

We were able to grab a hi-res screenshot of the “Prestige Shop” durring the XP2011 press briefing. Here are some other menus captured:

Go on over to charlieintel.com and check out the rest of the intel on the menu and prestige shop. Pretty awesome.

Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer Will Look and Feel More Like COD 4, Less Verticality and Killstreak Reliance

It looks like MW3 is going to have a lot less camping opportunities. Unlike MW2, it's predecessor, MW3 is only going to feature 4-5 hot spots per map. It looks like Sledgehammer is going to make it look more like COD 4, more gun on gun, you're done. So don't look for stackable kill streaks, marshmallows, or tents in the upcoming Call of Duty installment. I am liking what I am hearing and can't wait to get my hands on the game. BTW--COD Elite Beta starts today. Look in your email box for an invite! Thanks to Kotaku for breaking the story, here is a preview and a link to the article on MW3 on Kataku's website:

"A reduction of the number of so-called hotspots on the multiplayer maps of Modern Warfare 3 will alter and accelerate the flow of action in this fall's installment of the Call of Duty franchise juggernaut, one of the game's creators told Kotaku this week in New York City.
The makers of Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer mode are creating maps that include no more than five hotspots—places from which enemy players may be hiding or shooting—for a gamer to worry about at any one time.
"It simplifies it so that the less skilled player has less to think about," Robert Bowling, creative strategist at Modern Warfare development studio Infinity Ward told me yesterday. "What happens when you have more is that the professional guys are using that spot that is either difficult to get to. … There's fewer places to hide, which discourages the more camper mentality that seemed to emerge in the map design of Modern Warfare 2."
